ASHRAE Technical Committee 4.7 - Energy Calculations
Home Page
Accurate energy
models at every engineer's fingertips
Welcome
to the home page of ASHRAE Technical Committee 4.7. This technical
committee is concerned with identifying, evaluating, developing, and
recommending procedures for calculating energy performance of buildings.
TC 4.7 is currently responsible for Chapter 31 'Energy Estimating and
Modeling Methods' of the ASHRAE Fundamentals
Handbook.
Sub-Committees
TC 4.7
has a number of sub-committees. These are:
- Handbook
- Applications
- Inverse
Methods
- Simulation
and Component Models
Research
and program items are normally dealt with by each of the sub-committees
(except Handbook) and recommended to the main TC.
TC 4.7 Standards
This
TC is responsible for the following standards:
- ANSI/ASHRAE
Standard 140-2001: Standard
Method of Test for the Evaluation of Building Energy Analysis
Computer Programs.
This
standard 'specifies test procedures for evaluating the technical
capabilities and ranges of applicability of computer programs that
calculate the thermal performance of buildings and their HVAC systems..
Other TCs
ASHRAEs
technical committees are organized into sections. TC 4.7 is part of
Section 4.0 Load
Calculations and Energy Requirements. The TCs in Section 4.0
are:
- TC 4.1
Load Calculation Data and Procedures;
- TC 4.2
Weather Information;
- TC 4.4
Building Materials and Building Envelope Performance;
- TC 4.5
Fenestration;
- TC 4.7
Energy Calculations;
- TC 4.10 Indoor
Environmental Modeling;
